Daily Skin Care

* The best approach to daily facial cleansing is to use a soap free moisturizing cleanser and room-temperature water. It is best to minimize harsh loofahs, sponges, and washcloths and simply apply cleansers with the fingertips and rub gently.

* Daily use of a non-comedogenic or non-acnegenic moisturizer benefits almost every type of skin, including those with oily skin. The amount of oil the skin produces is not an indicator of skin hydration. Well-hydrated skin is much more receptive to topical medicines and therapies.

* Everyone should use appropriate protection. At least SPF 15 for general daily sun exposure, and SPF 30+ if the exposure is going to be prolonged. Sunscreen should be reapplied regularly if there are water activities or excessive sweating is occurring.

* Those with sensitive skin should try to select products without dyes or fragrances and that contain fewer than 10 ingredients.

* When choosing cosmetics, be sure to choose products that are non-comedogenic or non-acnegenic. These products have been tested and are appropriate for acne sufferers. Phrases such as “oil-free” are simply marketing tags and should not influence the selection of products.
